Benefits of the Pride Jazzy Carbon Power Chair

The Pride Jazzy Carbon Power Chair’s light carbon fiber technology frame and reliable lithium-ion battery make it the perfect power chair for outdoor activities and traveling. If you’re someone who enjoys traveling and being on the go, this is an ideal powerchair for you. The power chair has an airline-compliant lithium battery, has storage space, is lightweight, and can be folded. All of these things make it ideal for someone who wants a power chair that can travel with them.

Tips for Traveling with the Pride Jazzy Carbon Power Chair

Traveling without a wheelchair can be challenging, but traveling with one can pose even more of a challenge. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t travel. To make traveling with a wheelchair easier, it helps to plan and follow these simple tips:

Talk to the Airline and TSA Cares Passenger Support

As soon as you book your flight, it’s recommended that you check out TSA Cares, which is the Transportation Security Administration’s passenger support program. This program is to assist disabled passengers traveling with a wheelchair or medical supplies. Additionally, reach out to the disability service division of your airline or their customer service department if they don’t have one. They’ll note in the system that you will need assistance and will accommodate you and your wheelchair.

Make an Emergency Repair Kit

While we never expect our wheelchairs to break down, it’s always a good idea to make a little kit for any repairs that may need to be made to your wheelchair during your travels. Some basic materials you should include in your kit are:

  • Duct tape
  • Bubble wrap to protect your wheelchair during the flight
  • Allen wrenches to fit the screws on your wheelchair
  • Replacement screws
  • Your wheelchair’s user’s manual

Prepare Your Wheelchair for Your Flight

If you’ve ever had a manual wheelchair, you know how easy it is to prepare your wheelchair for a flight – you just take off the wheels and fold it. But power wheelchairs require a bit more effort. Ideally, you should schedule an appointment with one of Freedom Mobility’s Assistive Technology Professionals to come to your home and prepare your wheelchair for travel.
